The Challenge

The Hearing Suite is an independent hearing clinic that provides hearing assessments and solutions for people experiencing ear-related concerns in Yorkshire.  The Hearing Suite first opened in Harrogate in 2018 and then expanded with a branch in Ilkley and a growth in the size of the team in 2022.  With seven full time members of staff and plans to expand to Wykeham the business had a strong focus on patient care and a clear direction.  Already a client of McMillan HR and Associates, The Hearing Suite wanted to invest in support that would enable them to successfully implement a consistent approach to the business and develop a shared set of values complementing their rapid growth.

Our Approach

To understand the specific needs of The Hearing Suite, we started with an initial scoping call with the Managing Director to tailor the proposed approach. Following this, we designed a Development Workshop to be held at Rudding Park in Harrogate for the whole team.

The aim was to create and facilitate open conversations and the Development Day focused on:

  • Providing focussed space for the team to learn and grow together.
  • Developing & creating a shared vision, purpose and values for The Hearing Suite
  • Designing a series of impact statements to reframe individual and team roles and goals
  • Co-designing agreed ways of working across all locations of The Hearing Suite

The outcome of the Development Day was a more aligned team and a clear vision, ready to roll out across all the locations.

The Results

We were able to provide an informative and engaging day for the team which was enjoyable for all and had everyone participate. From this, the teams across each site became more aligned, having learnt about each other, and agreed a shared vision, purpose and values, ultimately becoming more productive as a business and with a happy and consistent culture. The Hearing Suite has since opened their 3rd site in Wykeham which seamlessly became part of the business.

Following this work, we have continued to work with The Hearing Suite to provide ongoing HR and Organisational Development support as the business required.
